Application of a methodological alternative in the subject of Prevention in Health (Original)

The challenges of Higher Education for the 21st century require a new educational process, based on the principles of excellence, quality and relevance. The challenges of educational systems is the generation of conditions and resources so that their members have a quality educational experience. In the direction of the teaching-learning process of the subject Prevention in health, methodological insufficiencies are verified that limit the assimilation in an integrated way of the contents of vaccination and immunization in students of the Medicine career, constituting this the starting point to carry out a investigative process that favors the learning of this content. In this sense, a development research was carried out at the University of Medical Sciences of Granma, in the period between September 2019 and July 2020 with the aim of developing a methodological alternative based on the design of teaching tasks in the subject Prevention in health that strengthens the learning of the content of Vaccination and Immunization in second year students of the Medicine career. The population was considered to be 51 students from two brigades of the second year of the career and 25 teachers from the Department of Comprehensive General Medicine. For data collection, theoretical, empirical and statistical methods were used. As a result of this research, a methodological alternative based on questions, learning situations and an exercise system is provided to enhance the learning of the content, it was submitted to the criteria of experts for its evaluation.
