Academic performance is one of the most important dimensions in the teaching-learning process and multiple social, economic, and educational factors can intervene in it. A descriptive cross-sectional study was carried out on 43 first-year students of the Short Cycle Higher Technician (TSCC) in nursing to determine the influence of motivation, study habits or other factors on the low academic performance of the Human Morphology II subject. The results obtained showed great demotivation for the subject, inefficient study habits, other factors were considered, such as difficulty in receiving information, absences from teaching consultations and scarcity of digital resources. This research allowed the teaching staff to design educational strategies to achieve the objectives proposed in the subject and improve the academic results of the students.
