Abstract

The soil is an important component for the functioning of the Earth System and is found on the surface of the planet where there are interfaces between the atmosphere, pedosphere, biosphere and lithosphere. However, this resource has presented anthropic pressures that lead to an increase in degraded areas and consequently, regions that previously were productive have been abandoned. This review has a multidisciplinary nature that aims to expose the soil as a means of production and its agricultural importance and for aquaculture, emphasizing the physical, chemical and biological properties, and the conservation measures thereof, given that the Land exploitation is the greatest source of wealth of any country in the world, of importance for humanity in conjunction with obtaining quality products that determine the productivity and sustainability of production systems.
