Abstract

Dental trauma occupies, due to its frequency, a relevant place in daily dental consultation. With the objective of characterizing the behavior of dental trauma in the emergency consultations of the Edor de los Reyes Martínez Arias Polyclinic, in the municipality of Jiguaní, a cross-sectional descriptive observational study was carried out on the 87 children between the ages of 4 and 12 who came to our consultation with this type of condition. The data were obtained through clinical examination and questioning of the patients with prior informed consent from parents or legal guardians, and variables such as sex, risk factors, and the most frequently observed type of trauma were taken into account. Theoretical, empirical and statistical methods were used to collect, process and analyze the information. The results obtained indicated that accidents or falls were the main etiological factor (41.4%), followed by sports activities (33.3%), the most frequent type of trauma was uncomplicated crown fracture (31.03%) and the male sex was the most affected in the population under study (66.7%).
