Abstract

For decades, it has been proposed that the main source of human variation is due to environmental factors. Cuban sports reserves, being impacted by the same socioeconomic and environmental phenomena of sports development, have been lacking reference standards for the evaluation of body composition and have not taken into account the integration of the different elements for a better evaluation of morphological optimization. The objective of this research is to reflect on the social scope that the morphofunctional and biomedical optimization of school athletes in the province of Granma would have. Taking into account that the research carried out on the morphofunctional characteristics of Cuban sports reserves, in 1991, never concluded; In addition, on the other hand, there is insufficient knowledge of the coaches and personnel linked to the preparation process about the morphological indicators for the evaluation of morphological optimization and in the training programs of the different sports the contents and methodological indications for the evaluation of anthropometric indicators during the preparation process. The present investigation aims to clarify the characteristics of height growth and body composition that prevail in a Granma school sports population, with its own eating habits and a training system under different climatic conditions than those of athletes from other provinces and other countries.
