Abstract

The competitive performances of the junior long-distance runners of the EIDE Pedro Batista Fonseca of the province Granma have looked affected because of overexcitement, anxiety and stress before the competition, behaviours that join the presence of pre-competitive state that affects negatively the performance of the team. The purpose of this investigation was to diagnose the characteristics of pre-competitive states in junior category athletes, of the EIDE Pedro Batista Fonseca. For it they used a set of methods and psychological techniques, between the ones that meet: observation, interview to athletes and trainers and the table of pre-competitive state; the obtained results allow verifying that 70 % of the studied athletes has start fever, the 30 % has a state of struggling disposition although they manifest start fever symptoms.
