Preparation in Environmental Education for Sustainable Development of the Teacher of Technical and Professional Education

Environmental education for sustainable development has a special significance in the crucial moments that humanity lives in, when environmental problems threaten to endanger the existence of life on earth if coherent strategies are not carried out to face and in some way mitigate or eliminate these derivatives of the nature-society interaction. In Cuba, special attention is given to these issues and they are incorporated into the different educational levels, such as Technical and Professional Education, which trains professionals at the basic and upper secondary levels, bearing a general culture and a comprehensive professional technical background, with the professional knowledge and skills that it requires the socio-economic development of the country, incorporating the economic, political-social and ecological dimensions of sustainable development, as an inherent part of learning for life and its efficient incorporation into the labor market. In this sense, highly trained teachers are required, among which is environmental education based on sustainable development that enables them to direct the process with the demands of society towards the comprehensive education of the training worker. This work proposes a methodological alternative that makes it possible to organize environmental education preparation for sustainable development for teachers of Technical and Professional Education.
