Geospatial evaluation of main agro-productive limiting factors of the soils of the “Guayabal” farm. (Original)

Abstract

The use of territorial resources requires the application of technologies that correspond to the potential productivity capacities of soils, as well as their conservation and improvement. This constitutes an element of vital importance to guarantee the production of food with the required quality and quantity. At present, management is one of the most pressing questions in these times due to the loss of properties that soils have suffered as a result of their improper use. In this sense, the research being carried out analyzes the geospatial distribution and the main properties of the soils in the “Guayabal” farm, belonging to the Agrarian University of Havana. For this purpose, the information referring to the study area is recorded and updated and the main agro-productive limiting factors of the soils destined for agricultural production are determined. This served as the basis for recommending actions aimed at training social actors in order to develop capacities related to the sustainable production of soils supported by the environmental supply-demand balance. As a result of the investigation, it was evidenced that the soils that predominate on the farm are those of the type Red Ferralitic Lixiviate, which represent 58.97% of the Total. The main agroproductive limiting factors being the shallow effective depth, poor soil drainage and compaction, among others.
