Abstract

The present research was carried out from December 2015 to March 2016 at the facilities of the Universidad Tecnológica de Tehuacán, located in San Pablo Tepetzingo, Puebla, Mexico; with the objective of assessing the morphological behavior of the culture of  “Creole chickpea” (Cicer arietinum L.) in the central valleys of Oaxaca. A randomized block design was used with a bi-factorial arrangement where factor A corresponded to the different levels of fertilization (60 and 90 kg ha-1) and factor B the planting dates (two dates) were used as control treatment where no fertilizer was applied, five replications were made per treatment, UREA (46-00-00) was used as a Nitrogen source. The assessment variables were percentage of germination (PG), height of the plant (AP), thickness of the stem (GT) flowering (F). Based on the results achieved, the highest valueswere achieved when the seed were planted the first fortnight of December, at a dose of 90 kg ha-1 of Nitrogen, surpassing the rest of the treatments and with significant difference; especially with the control treatment where fertilization was not applied. It indicates that it is advisable to plant the crop in the Tehuacán region, taking into account that 90 kg of Nitrogen per hectare is recommendable for each crop.
