Some considerations on the comprehension of mathematical contents (Original)

Abstract

In the teaching of Mathematics, it is important to know how the students understand the contents. The objective of the work is to systematize the information about the mathematical comprehension from different conceptions, theories and aspects that impact in its development. On the basis of the materialist dialectical method the following were used: logical historical, synthesis analysis, system approach and documentary analysis, which made possible the study of mathematical comprehension from documents elaborated from the psychology, the teaching of the Spanish language and Mathematics, scientific articles, master’s thesis and doctoral theses made in recent years in Cuba and abroad, located on the internet. As a result, some relationships among the concepts of comprehension, reading comprehension and mathematical comprehension were established; it was defined the comprehension of mathematical contents, the levels of comprehension of mathematical contents were determined and characterized.
