Abstract

This article illustrates important reflections about the study of Cuban History in the second cycle of primary school, taking as support the study of local history. It is derived from the author's master's thesis and its objective is to develop a system of activities that contributes to the knowledge of local history in its aboriginal stage. The research was carried out at the “Conrado Benítez García” primary school, a semi-boarding school and at the same time a reference center in the Jiguaní municipality. It was applied in the 5th grade, the moment in Primary Education when the study of the History of Cuba begins from the analysis of the Primitive Community. The investigation of the beginnings of man's life on the Island by schoolchildren in a simple way is a subject of great importance since it refers to the origins of a people and the understanding of their traditions and customs. Through this article, elements of interest are provided to be known by schoolchildren in the primitive community stage, being useful to the teacher to project a more successful planning of activities.
