Abstract

It is known that in traditional education it focused on memorization and repetition, the learned knowledge was worked in a fragmented way and its application was limited. At present, the integration of knowledge is an opportunity to have a better understanding of difficult concepts and complex ideas. The objective of the research was to analyze the students' learning process using problem solving, as a way to develop higher order skills, for which theoretical methods were used, mainly with a logical-deductive approach, leading the assessment of the bibliographic sources from the analytic-synthetic. In the teaching - learning process the teacher has to conceive relevant, meaningful and authentic tasks, so that the student solves contextualized problems, real and linked to his future professional activity, which allows to analyze critically the available information, which should contribute to the development of higher order thinking skills. Students should look for relevant information that allows them to reflect on their learning, recognizing the strengths and weaknesses in their reasoning and in the arguments presented by others, in this sense innovative teaching methods play an important role.
