Main complications of burn patients: An analysis from the perspective of Therapeutic Physical Culture

Burns are defined as a thermal lesion due to the action of physical, chemical or biological agents which cause multiple tissue alterations, resulting in high morbidity in the form of contractures, body disfigurement and pruritus, as well as a high emotional impact that reduces the quality of life of these patients. The present study aims to characterize the main complications presented by burn patients submitted to a program of Therapeutic Physical Culture (TPC). A cross-sectional descriptive observational study was carried out. The sample was selected in a non-probabilistic way by convenience, formed by 20 specialists of a multidisciplinary team related to an intervention project from CFT. The method used to collect the information was the survey. Descriptive variables were expressed in percentages and the chi-square statistical method was used to compare the variables under study. The data obtained were processed with SPSS 28 statistical software. The results obtained showed that 90% of the specialists agreed that the main musculoskeletal complications were related to soft tissue retractions, antalgic positions (95%), decreased muscle tone (90%), loss of range of motion of the affected joints (95%) and pathological scarring of the lesions (80%).At the conclusion of the study, it was determined that characterizing the main complications presented by burn patients and describing the main treatment routes proposed by specialists allows achieving a higher functional level in the rehabilitation process of this pathology.
