Post-COVID 19 physical rehabilitation in older adults (Review)

Abstract

Intensive care physiotherapy aims to prevent and manage pulmonary complications, focus on early rehabilitation and reduce immobilization complications. The following review study pursues the objective of evaluating studies on Post-COVID 19 respiratory rehabilitation in older adult populations. For which various databases were reviewed, such as Databases: EMBASE, Elsevier BV, EBSCO Group, MEDLINE, SciELO, SCOPUS, Science Citation Index Expanded and specialized journals, for which the following descriptors were established for searches: [ respiratory physiotherapy], [Exercise Therapy- COVID 19], [Physical Rehabilitation- COVID 19 systematic reviews], [Post COVID-19 physical exercise systematic review]. The searches were carried out during the period October-November 2021. The results showed a large number of intervention, clinical and preclinical studies that confirmed the relationship between physical rehabilitation and COVID-19, although they are not yet sufficient to reach a consensus on protocols. standard for this type of disease. It was concluded that the evidence corroborates that physical activity in the context of a pandemic can contribute to maintaining or improving exercise tolerance, maximum oxygen consumption, functional capacity, cardiovascular health, body composition, muscle strength, which It constitutes a fundamental pillar to establish care protocols, which include your organization.
