Abstract

The article constitutes a scientific proposal guided to delve deeply into the thematic of the older adult and its quality of life, considering that in this stage of aging the very complex interaction of biological, psychological and social factors becomes evident, in the one which not alone the problems of health are affected, but another group of factors that have been denominated of social risk in the older adult. For this reason, it is proposed as objective to offer an approachment to the fundamental theoretical bases with emphasis in the mistreatment to the older adult and its repercussion in the quality of life. Today the citizens are facing this social and family problem, where many times the families don't have conscience of their behavior, because they possess a very narrow notion of this phenomenon in this age. In a same way, it is considered a necessity to create and to develop attitudes and practices in the professionals for the treatment to the older adult, so that they can achieve the satisfaction of the basic and spiritual human necessities, attaining the plenitude and happiness in this stage of life.
