Abstract

The study of the locality is a didactic principle very typical of the teaching of Geography, it is based on the idea that teaching must proceed from the known to the unknown, from the concrete to the abstract and from the near to the distant. Therefore, the local environment has to be the starting point for the correct interpretation of the objects, phenomena and processes that occur in nature. For this reason, as part of the local study and using the methodology established by renowned pedagogues specialized in the subject, a historical, social, cultural and folkloric characterization of the town "Ciudad Pesquera" in the municipality of Manzanillo is carried out. The text of the article is part of the extraclass work presented as an evaluation of the elective subject Historical, social, cultural and folkloric sketch of the town
