The development of reading comprehension in the Spanish Literature subject

Abstract

The study of language has as its fundamental purpose the development of students´ communicative competenceto learn the use of the spoken and written language to communicate effectively in different situations. To achieve this end, the development of speaking, listening, reading and writing skills is necessary. This article presents a characterization of the teaching-learning process of the Spanish Literature subject in pre-university, as well as theoretical references related to reading comprehension, as a result of the bibliographic review and the analysis and synthesis methods. Finally, some strategies are suggested to contribute to the development of reading comprehension in class.
