Abstract

Anaplasmosis is a parasitic disease caused by Anaplasmamarginale, a bacterium of the Rickettsiales order, which produces great economic losses due to the reduction of milk production, weight reduction, abortions and deaths of infected cattle. The objective of the work was to diagnose and the presence of anaplasmosis in cattle from a dairy of the Unit Basic of Cooperative Production (UBCP) "Raúl Chacón Jorge", belonging to the Livestock Enterprise from Manzanillo municipality, in the period 2017- April 2019. The sample consisted of 296 cattle of the Siboney breed from Cuba. To support the diagnosis of anaplasmosis, the bioprotection of the unit was evaluated and a physical inspection of the mass was carried out, as well as other clinical, hematological, pathological and microbiological field investigations. The combination of clinical and laboratory examinations allowed diagnosing anaplasmosis in the unit studied, with a prevalence of 20.6%. The data obtained in this work were statistically reduced using analysis of variance (ANOVA) with standard deviation of the mean determined by the Tukey test for a significance level of 5%. The statistical package used was Statgraphics Centurion version 5.0.
