Self- care and prevention of sexual abuse in adolescents (Original)

Abstract

In this paper the following problem is assisted: How is self-care manifested in adolescent girls in Palenque de Yateras to prevent sexual abuse? The study was carried out with the feminine population of the ages corresponding to the early adolescence. In this regard, a qualitative research of exploratory-descriptive type of multiple cases was carried out in the town of Palenque of the municipality of Yateras, with the following objectives: general: to describe how self-care is manifested in adolescents in Palenque de Yateras to prevent sexual abuse. As specific objectives: first, to explore the knowledge that adolescents possess about sexual abuse for their self-care. On the other hand, to identify self-care practices for preventing sexual abuse. In this sense, a sample of 32 female adolescents was chosen from the method inclusion and exclusion criteria. The importance of the research lies in determining the following results: diagnosis of the poor knowledge of adolescents about sexual abuse; they have developed very few self-care skills to prevent it; there is no adequate direction of education for responsible sexuality on the part of the family, school and other socializing agencies. These elements will permit to project a strategy which, in the future, favors a greater advance in the current situation of the referred problem to the desired state.
