Among the methods used for the evaluation of handgrip strength (FPM) is static dynamometry, which consists of measuring or recording isometric strength. There is a loss of handgrip strength with aging, the importance of identifying older adult patients with a higher risk of this decrease due to the disability that this entails focuses on the objective of this study: to determine the values of Handgrip Strength in older adults at the Caonao Grandparents' Home. The population consisted of 29 older adults from the Caonao People's Council Grandparents' Home, with an average age of 73.2 years, the study variables were Non-Dominant Handgrip Strength and Dominant Handgrip Strength. The statistical processing consisted of a frequency and percentage analysis. The percentile statistician was used to define the 25th, 50th, and 75th quartiles and their values were established. All by means of the statistical package IBM SPSS for Windows version 21.0, The results showed that the group with the highest frequency was: the 70-79 years old, the female and the arterial hypertension as associated pathology. The distribution of the hand grip strength of the elderly according to the percentiles showed a higher frequency of Regular Non-Dominant Hand Grip Strength and of Poor Dominant Hand Grip Strength.Conclusions.The evaluation of the FPM showed evaluations of Regular for the FPMNoD and of Poor for the FPMD, accepting the Idea to defend.
