Virtual classroom and self-regulated learning strategies in Social sciences of Basic Education (Original)

The vertiginous developments experienced by Information Technology and the technology of Communication allowed in the second half of last century their convergence giving rise to Internet, one of the most important technological innovations of mankind, comparable only to the emergence of the wheel Or the invention of the steam engine in its time. Among its most powerful resources is the World Wide Web, the great web of spider that has invaded all the spaces of the human task, in particular the educational processes, favoring new methods, procedures and forms of organization, being incorporated to the presencial forms of Teaching-learning, becoming a decisive support to the constructivist paradigm of knowledge. The essentially descriptive study supported by scientific observation and documentary analysis allowed an approach to this pedagogical event and to the reality of the Social Studies of Basic Education of the province of El Oro in Ecuador; Reaching the conclusion that their employment is not yet sufficient, given to a great extent by the lack of recognition that teachers and students make of the advantages of their employment, resistance to the changes that ICTs face; Resulting in generational conflicts of interest and insufficient infrastructures in schools. As a consequence, a virtual classroom was designed for introduction to school practice through the Chamilo platform, preliminary results are encouraging, students and teachers are satisfied with the novel way of teaching and learning
