Currently, gamification has emerged as an innovative technique that goes beyond the incorporation of playful elements in learning. The importance lies in applying game techniques that stimulate participation, motivation and knowledge retention in students. The main objective was to explore the application and effects of gamification in educational environments, as well as to identify possible challenges and opportunities for its effective implementation. A methodology with a mixed approach was used, combining quantitative and qualitative analysis. The study was carried out with students of the Information Technology program at the State University of the South of Manabí, developing a dynamic environment with the implementation of gamified strategies. Data was collected through surveys, interviews and analysis on academic performance, allowing a comprehensive evaluation of the impacts of gamification. The results consistently demonstrated that gamification has a positive impact on engagement, motivation, and knowledge retention. Significant improvements were identified in academic results and in the practical application of professional skills. Key aspects were highlighted, such as the adaptability of gamification to different contexts and the need to address specific challenges. It is concluded that gamification has the ability to modify the traditional learning dynamics, offers interactive and attractive experiences, and has the potential to boost academic performance, achieving participant satisfaction.
