Abstract

The vocalic system of spanish consists fundamentally of five vowels and of a series of open and closed variants that are given in the context, among that we count the semivowels and semiconsonants of the diphthongs, so as relaxed variants, nasalizes, stresses, relatively longs and shorts. In essence, constitutes a pentagonal system, with elements that are opposed two by two: two previous vowels, two subsequent vowels and a central element. As for the opening grade they are distinguished two closed, an open one and two of half opening. Which is classified taking in account the following linguistic aspects: articulation way, articulation place, action of the vocal chords, for the action of the veil of the palate, participation of the lips, bell and intensity. To know this vocalic system is of supreme importance for the training of a future speech therapist, for so he can teach to the students the correct pronunciation and articulation of the vowels, besides, the position that adopt the articulatory organs.
