Abstract

Through an exhaustive bibliographic review, a theoretical analysis of the botany and forestry of the Clusia rosea (cupey) species is carried out, considere done of the species closely related to the history of Cuba. The cupeyisan ornamental plant, which belongs to the genus Clusia which has more than 150 species of trees, shrubs and vines with a distribution throughout the Antilles, Central and South America. At present, the decrease of its presence in the natural environment has been revealed. This article deals with elements related to its taxonomy, botanical description, ecology, forestry, use and conservation, thus forming a document that can be used as complementary material in the Forest Engineering career.
