Approach to the study of forest species of historical value: Byrsonima crassifolia (L.) Kunth (Peralejo)

Abstract

The research was carried out with the objective of deepening the study of the forest species Byrsonima crassifolia (L.) H.B.K. (Peralejo), which regardless of the dissimilar properties attributed to it, has a high historical value for the community that bears its name (Peralejo) belonging to the Bayamo municipality. From the consultation of the main authors, the essential elements of its taxonomy, botanical description, ecology, forestry, use and actions for its conservation were determined. The main contribution of the research is the analysis of the main characteristics of the species and its importance from the historical point of view.
