Abstract

The objective of this work is to reflect on the importance of the protection of the Diospyroshalesioides species, based on an exhaustive bibliographic review. White ebony - as it is commonly known - is an endemic species of Cuba in the category of danger. Based on the main authors consulted, it was determined that the species establishes itself in the semi-deciduous forests of Cuba and reproduces by seed, as well as that poaching has put white ebony at risk, together with its slow growth. For its propagation, an experiment was carried out under conditions controlled by the scientific group of the Botany subject, conducive to evaluating the effect of Cleome gynadra L. full-plant ethanolic extracts on the germination and growth of Diospyros halesioides as a possible biostimulant. The best results were obtained at doses 50 and 100 mgL-1, increasing the percentage of germination, length of roots and stems, dry and fresh mass of this species.
