Abstract

The investigation responds to the problem related to the inadequacies of the historical treatment of the revolutionary work carried out by Lidia Doce and Clodomira Acosta Ferrales in the First Eastern Front “José Martí”. Its objective is the theoretical reflection on the role played by Lidia Doce and Clodomira Acosta in the First Eastern Front. Its most relevant results are: reflections on the role of women in History; analysis of the characteristics of the gender perspective, its foundations from the historiography and the revolutionary work developed by Lidia Doce and Clodomira Acosta in the last stage of the struggles for national independence. Finally, some criteria set forth by Fidel Castro and Ernesto Guevara are visible on the commendable work carried out by these illustrious daughters of the former province of Oriente before the revolutionary triumph. Among the sources consulted are the Monograph of the Local History of the Buey Arriba municipality, Granma province, The challenge of the yoke and the star of José Cantón Navarro, of Francisca López Siveria: Cuba between 1899 and 1959 as well as the provincial historical archive.
