In Cuba, an island with beautiful beaches and other aquatic spaces for recreation throughout the year, there are no studies that analyze how children perceive the lifeguard, to detect informational gaps, correct them and increase the safety in these spaces. This work studied the figure and occupation of the lifeguard drawn by primary school students. Drawn details were valued according to the children age. All of them related the lifeguard to the male gender, and he was located mainly on the beaches. Most identified him by his shirt with the Red Cross, although many of the little ones did not draw this clothing used in Cuba, which means a lack of information about this important identifying detail. The older children added the whistle and the cap to a lesser extent. Prevention was the least illustrated action.
