Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the anthropometric profile of the athletes of the Universidad del Atlántico. The procedure was carried out by taking anthropometric measurements such as diameters, perimeters, and skin folds. The diameters were taken with a pachymeter or vernier caliper and the following were taken: biacromial, transverse thorax, anteroposterior, biiliocrestal, humeral and femoral thorax. The perimeters that were measured using the tape measure were head, relaxed arm, flexed arm, forearm, thorax, waist, maximum hip, maximum thigh, middle thigh and maximum calf. The skin folds were measured with a slymguide adipometer and were: brachial, subscapular, supraspinatus, abdominal, middle thigh and middle calf triceps. For the calculation of the body mass index, the Quetelec formula was used: BMI = Weight / Height2. The weight of the five masses expressed in kilograms were used the parameters established by Holway in 2009 and that establish the bone, adipose, muscular, residual and skin components. A sample of 103 subjects from the selections of Women's and Men's Basketball, Swimming, Men's Soccer, Weightlifting and Men's Volleyball in ages between 17 and 27 years was used. The statistical analysis used the SPSS version 24 statistical package where descriptive statistical tests were applied.
