Abstract

Lateral epicondylitis or “tennis elbow” is an overuse tendinopathy of the wrist extensors and inflammation of their insertion into the lateral epicondyle of the humerus. Elbow dysfunction may be related to acute or chronic injury to the soft or bone tissues that make up the elbow. The clinical picture presents as pain in the external part of the elbow on the lateral epicondyle, that is, the external one, which is manifested when palpating the epicondylar region or when performing simple actions, but usually decreases during the night; There is also functional impotence in hand grip movements. The present investigation arose from inadequacies detected from the methodological-practical point of view in the process of treatment and rehabilitation of patients afflicted with humeral epicondylitis. The research was oriented not only to physical therapies, but these would be integrated into traditional natural medicine (MNT) and the Therapeutic and Prophylactic Physical Culture to achieve a shorter period in pain crises, exposing the benefits of physical exercise for this tendinopathy and prevent on the risk factors that trigger epicondylitis in general. The population consists of 16 workers from the UEB Antonio Guiteras, from the Puerto Padre municipality in Las Tunas. In order to carry out the research, the objective was to develop a program that includes physical therapies, NTM and the Therapeutic and Prophylactic Physical Culture for the treatment and rehabilitation of patients afflicted with humeral epicondylitis.
